Lisbon to Fatima

We are a group of 4 friends and are going to be on Lisbon for 3 days, we would like to go to Fatima for a day trip, by train or any other mean of transportation, has any one done this trip on a day basis only? Please let me know how long is the traveling time and how expensive it would be. Thank You

The times seem to vary between 1 to 2 hours. I can tell you absolutely that the trip to Fatima is not worth the time and money. You're much better off going to Sintra.

Trains in Portugal are cheap. I'm guessing that it would be no more than E10 each way per person. You can get your tickets when you get to Lisbon.

Here's a site you can use for schedules. Trains leave from Lisbon Oriente.

I lived in NYC with a Portuguese drag queen for two years and even that did not prepare me for the freak show that is Fatima.

If you find a tourist office in Lisboa (or maybe you can book directly from your hotel?), you can book a bus tour that usually includes Obidos, Fatima, Nazare, and Alcobaca.

There used to be a tourist office on Av. Liberdade near Restauradores Metro Stop, but I don't know if it is still there.

If you decide just to go to Fatima on your own, I doubt you would want to spend more than 2 hours there.

An hour is more than enough time in Fatima.

Hello nattymcg,
If you want to visit Fatima, I don't see a reason not to go.

If you are here just for 3 days I agree with adrienne that Sintra is a better option. However, if you want to see them both, why not to rent a car, spend 2/3 hours in Fatima and then go to Sintra.
