Lisbon & Seville
Am travelling to Lisbon and Seville in mid-December.
* Any recommendations for REALLY GOOD (that doesn't necessarily mean expensive) restaurants?
* Any recommendations for small, fabulously charming, B&Bs in downtown/old town area (in Lisbon) and Santa Cruz (in Seville)
** Any recommendations for great entertainment?
** Any recommendations for other places to go that are ~~ a day or two away?

I like the Portugalia (Brewery) restaurants in Lisbon, especially the one about 500m west of the Cais do Sodre ferry terminal. The views from there are really nice. There's also a restaurant that features Marisco at the corner of the Sagres Brewery building (a bit high $$$)). In Lisbon I stay at Estrela do Saldanha, Avda. da Republica, 17 (at the Duque de Avila exit of Metro Lisboa's Saldanha station). It's centrally located and great for Metro or Bus connections. Carlos Ferreira, co-owner / manager speaks passable English. He has a website.
In Sevilla, there's a Meson near the Maestranza Plaza de Toros. It bears the same name as a Church across the street (la Virgen de la Cinta & Meson de la Cinta??). We have dined there (midday) several times and were never disappointed. As I recall, they even have a Menu del dia.

NED. Because you mentioned them before, my husband and I had a bite to eat at the Poutugalia restaurant in Lisbon at the mall.
I have always wanted to tell you how good it was. We took in a movie while we were there and wanted a quick meal before the show. I would definitely eat at one again.

Sher: I haven't been to la Portugalia (brewery) restaurant in Colombo Mall although Carlos Ferreira recommended it. It's the newest! I've been to the original one on Almirante-?? near MetroLisboa's Alameda station and to the one on the river bank.

We like nice meals when we travel, but every meal does not have to be a "life changing dining experience" for us.
So when we were in the Colombo Mall I saw the restaurant, we were looking for something quick, and I remembered. That in and of itself is a miracle for me sometimes.
I cannot say we had one bad meal in Portugal.
And it is nice to know that someone would be willing to try something we had and liked.
Now this time when we are there, we are going to try some places near the water area which we did not have time for the last time.

Lisbon: Pasteleria Versailles is next door to the Hostal where I stay. Avda. da Republica & Duque de Avila. As a matter of fact, Hostal Estrela do Saldanha used to pick up the tab for a Continental breakfast there included in the room rate. Lisbon pastries are one of Portugal's secret attractions. I luv 'em!
