Lisbon for 2 days

Hi - We have a layover in Lisbon so will be there for 2 nights / 1.5 days on Oct 28. Looking for a hotel or B&B and some things to do. We would like to find a place to stay on a subway/train line away from the airport. Please make recommendations of an area to stay and what subway/train line from the airport. Also, some things to do during the day and night (like a fun restaurant or bar with a nice view). Thanks.

Lisbon airport is kind of downtown ! From there to downtown you may take the subway, airport bus (5 Euros), public transport (1.5 Euros) or a taxi (around 15 Euros, plus tip, plus an extra for each suitcase).
It´s easy to get around Lisbon by public transport.
A nice restaurant with view over the river is Chapitô or Bica do Sapato. Another one without view but on the neibourghood (Bairro Alto) of sereval pubs is Pap´Açorda, or Largo or Cervejaria Trindade. For all we need reservation.
To stay check www.airbnb.com
Enjoy Lisbon!

An excellent B and B that we just stayed at in August is called 'Whatever B and B'. Carlos is the owner and he's super. Very close to everything and bus and train transportation

Depending on your budget, you can consider the Hotel Avenida Palace (www.hotelavenidapalace.pt/), Hotel Britania (www.hotel-britania.com), Lisbon Plaza (www.lisbonplazahotel.com), Hotel Heritage (www.heritage.pt), or Bairro Alto Hotel (www.bairroaltohotel.com).

For something more moderately priced, there is the 2-star Hotel Americano in the heart of Lisbon's Rossio square (www.hotelamericano.com), or the 2-star Duas Nações Hotel, located in the in the heart of the downtown Baixa district (www.duasnacoes.com).

There is also the 3-star Hotel Borges Chiado, located in the fashionable Largo do Chiado (www.hotelborges.com).

We stayed in the Olissipo Castello - a great area near the castle (duh), very convenient to trams and great for exploring the city. The hotel staff was wonderful. We couldn't get into Whatever but this was a great property.

Thanks for suggestions. I will read the reviews on trip advisor. So, it sounds like we want to stay by the Baixa-Chiado metro stop. I pulled a Lisbon metro map. And from the airport, we change lines at Alameda.

Is there still bull fighting on 10/29?
