Let the search begin - Eiffel Tower view - apt or hotel worth considering?

DH and I have just booked our week-long October trip to Paris (!) and are now searching for an apartment with a direct Eiffel Tower view (not going out onto a balcony and stretching to see ET around a corner, and also not seeing just the tippy top of it). If we can't find the perfect apartment, we would also consider a hotel. I have stayed at the beautiful Hotel Duquesne before and the "Eiffel Tower room" was lovely but I had to slide the bed over for the view. I'd rather not do any furniture arranging this time!

I've been looking at some older threads but keep coming up with discontinued pages or pages that "haven't been updated in 17 months" etc. Time for some new information!

Does anyone have suggestions for apts or hotels? By the way, I started at the 5-star establishments - too pricey for this trip. I don't really have a budget apart from that. We'd also consider splurging for a few nights of a wonderful view and the other nights at a smaller place without a view.

Merci!

I've been looking at apartments for a trip next year, but I'm not sure how to tell if they are legal. I know some don't care, but I do. I tend to be a bit anal about things like that.

I wish I had a suggestion for you, but will be checking back to see what suggestions are posted.

If a page hasn't been updated in 17 months but refers to a hotel with a good Eiffel Tower view, it shouldn't matter. If the hotel still exists, it probably still has the same view and I'd check it out.

I don't quite understand your complaint about the Duquesne, but it sounds like it can't just have an Eiffel Tower view but that view has to be exactly from the bed? that will really limit things a lot as a lot of people prefer the view to be from a balcony or just a window in the living room.

This is a good website on this topic, but most of the hotels are 5* hotels and even then, the view is not usually dead-on from the bed, that is unusual. http://www.themostperfectview.com/paris-hotel-views/

This looks like one of the most possible 4* hotels but even then the view is not the entire tower but the top of it, even if from the bed. I think what you are asking is rarely going to exist (full view of the entire tower from the bed). http://www.hoteleiffeltrocadero.com/...-eiffel-views/
The room is quiet small, also.

I thought that company Parisperfect has some apartments with ET views, but I don't thnk they meet your criteria of what the view must look like.

It really wasn't a complaint about the Duquesne because that's a beautiful hotel, but I did like to go to sleep and wake up and see the ET. Seems unfair to DH that only one of us could do that, although he might not care about it that much.

Mid October, we probably won't be using a balcony a whole lot so definitely don't want to have to go out there for a view, no matter what it would be.

Here's an apartment I found which looks interesting...comments?

The Pullman Hotel would fit the bill other than the rooms aren't very pretty. I lived in France in 1966 and remember that hotel, although it used to be a Hilton as I recall. It is next to the track which we had to walk to from school and run around every single day. Ugh! I also had my first banana split in that hotel! Some cool memories with this post!

It would also be convenient to be near the Eiffel Tower since we are going to the Jules Verne on my birthday, but of course we can take a taxi afterwards to wherever we stay so that's not important.

When we stayed at the Muguet, we had a room that had a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower! Almost the entire thing, minus the very base of it. Our DD took a great black and white photo of it, all lit up at night with one pane of the window open and it us such a beautiful photo we had it enlarged and framed. Not sure if this link shows our photo/review or not, but check out the pics and you will see.

So that link doesn't go right to my review, but you can see photos from all reviews there, so you will get an idea at least.

Someone else commented on Paris Perfect and I can't say enough good things about them. We have used them twice and recommended them to 3 other families. Some people don't want to do apartment living and prefer a hotel. The only down side I ever see is the bed making (not really that taxing). The upside is having living room space and cooking space (even if it is only to make coffee before you have the energy to go out and get coffee) The last time we used them it was my son going off to Paris for a long weekend (he lives in Europe) so I was planning and he was visiting and they were bouncing back and forth responding to both our questions. They can arrange anything for you or simply get you to the apartment and leave you there. My daughters still talk about going to sleep watching the lights of the ET twinkling. We've just discovered that dollar for dollar you just get more space and flexibility in an apartment. Top Paris memory was sitting on balcony with daughter painting the ET one late afternoon when she had run out of steam to head out with the rest of the family. Good luck in your search!

We're going to do a combination of apartment first and then upscale hotel! That settles that question LOL

Kwren-----the Hotel Muguet has just done a top to bottom refitting. It just-reopened a couple of weeks ago but I noticed that their website has not been updated yet. We thought we would give it a try at the end of the month when we return from the south of France and have two nights in Paris before heading home. However, I am not sure their rooms with views allow you to have your view from your bed. It seems that I remember that their sister hotel, L'Empereur ,had views from the beds of Invalides. There is a new swanky hotel in that general area called Le Cinq Codet but I am not sure about rooms with views. Happy travels.

If you're only staying a week, I wouldn't go through the hassle of moving from apartment to hotel. You'll lose a good bit of time (cleaning the apartment, waiting for someone to check you in/out, packing, re-packing, getting to and from...).

It's not possible in most instances to drop your bags if you arrive before check-in time for an apartment. No fun dragging all your stuff around, especially if the weather's bad and you're jet-lagged.

Are you seriously planning to just stay in your room gazing at the Eiffel Tower for one week? Probably not, since it's likely you'll be out and about quite a bit.

Pick a hotel with a nice view of the Eiffel Tower and stay put.
