Les Invalides Night Show
Hello. I just wanted to check if anyone has been to the night show at Les Invalides and if you have any feedback. Shows start at 10 pm so it will be a big commitment for our family of six (from a toddler to my parents in their 70's) to make. But I can't think of many other shows that will appeal to everyone in our group. I'm also curious about the lines and how easy it is to secure seats together since the seats are not assigned.
Thanks and I look forward to hearing from someone who has experience with this show!

No, it's not the Moulin Rouge, it's "La Nuit aux Invalides," which seems to be a new and somewhat spectacular sort of sound and light show about great military leaders of France. I can't imagine taking a toddler to it. It's in French - you have to rent headphones if you need another language. I doubt it would appeal to me, but I haven't seen it and can't comment.

My mother and father in-law went to the show last night so I'll try to get some feedback from them tomorrow or over the weekend. From what I understand the event is rain or shine and you are not allowed to leave during the performance so go to the bathroom beforehand.

Link in English here:

It appears there are both seated and standing ticket options. At the end of the trailer it says shows are in English on Monday and Thursday.

Thanks for the responses!
frenchmystiquetours - Thanks so much! That tip about the restrooms is very helpful! For some reason, I thought the shows this year are all in French. But if the option is available, we'll go to the English show and save on the headphone rental. We do plan to get the seated tickets - not sure how easy it will be to seat a big group together but we can split in threes, if necessary.
Do let us know what your in-laws say about the show. My daughter is almost three years old. She has been to several theater productions where she always behaved (surprisingly) well. She even enjoyed going to the ballet (granted, it was The Nutcracker). If we do go to the Invalides show, I will bring a set of ear muffs in case it gets too loud; so going to an English show (without the need for headphone rental) will really be ideal.
Thanks again!

It's not that new, it's been around about five years, I think. A lot of cities and public attractions are doing this light show stuff nowadays in France. It's not my thing but some people might like that kind of light show. They've done that at Notre Dame at Christmas sometimes, also. Chateaux do them, also, such as Blois, as well as place Stanislas in Nancy in the summer and in Lyon.
OBviously a toddler isn't going to understand anything nor care about French history, who knows if they'd enjoy the light show, though. It is expensive but at least the toddler gets in free.
There are some illuminations tours of Paris at night that many enjoy, also (small bus or something like that), but those cost even more. So that probably is about the only show you'll find where you can take a toddler, especially free.
