Leave Athens Mon am fly home Frankfurt on Sat afternoon, what in between?
Some thoughts fly into Zurich, Munich, Brussels, Amsterdam as possibilities, rent a car and hit some hotspots in between.
First thought was to fly to Zurich, drive to Meersburg stay a night or two, drive to dinkelsbuhl, Rothenberg, Bad Wimpfen, Heidelberg, drive from Heidelberg to airport for flight home.
Any great ideas out there?
As always, thanks for all of your help!

If you rent a car in Switzerland the drop fee in Germany will be very high. Suggest flying Athens to Munich to pick up a car and drive immediately to Garmisch for Mon & Tues night (with a day trip to Zugspitz or Nueschwanstein if desired), Wednesday drive to Rothenburg (stop in Dinkelsbuhl for a few hours on the way), Rothenburg for Wed & Thur nights (day trip to Bad Wimpfen if you feel like it), Drive to Heidelburg Fri AM then FRA Sat AM. Have a good trip- Don't drink and drive as the laws are pretty strict in Germany...

You can go to www.Tripadvisor to get some good info on restaurants and other activities in Garmisch. And you can go to Booking.com to see exactly where it is located, get some reviews of this ( and other hotels), and to get a pretty good map of Garmisch.
Have a great trip!!!

Looks like Zurich, Stein am Rhein, Meersburg, Nordlingen, Dinkelsburg, Heidelberg and home from Frankfurt is the call. In September, renting car in Zurich and dropping in Frankfurt. (until I. change my mind again)

Hello,
you might call me biased because I run a hotel ( www.luitpoldbad.de ) in the more western part of Bavaria but: the Allgaeu is much nicer than Garmisch - off the beaten path, but everything you expect. Meersburg is great but Lindau is even better. King's castle in Füssen is really special (150 year old Disney land).
To be fair: Aachen, Brussels, Brugge are worth seeing on the other side of Germany.
And Frankfurt itself has lots to offer: Roman empire remains, Rhine river villages with wine tastings, medieval towns and some fabulous hiking tracks - you name it.
If you need German assistance just give a shout.

Beautiful hotel! I have been to Fussen and Frankfurt. (Frankfurt many years ago when area around train station was scary to say the least! Not fond memories!) Me and my friends wrapped up a Euro Holiday in 1982 with a one day cruise down the Rhein. For 3 young guys it was the most boring 9 hours! I started drinking wine at 10am just to help get through the boredom of being on a boat for that long. Definitely, not my style!
Thank you for you info Armin! I will take a look at Allgaeu.
No decisions have been made yet. I have never been to Belgium. Wasn't fond of Amsterdam (they had a "Hemp Parade" while I was there and every pothead in the world had decended upon Amsterdam that day. Again..not my style!
Thank you everybody for your assistance!

Decided to go fly to Brussels on a Monday in early Sept. and drive to Bruges. Then try to figure out what to do the next 4 nights prior to flying out of Frankfurt on Sat. afternoon.
Trier, Cochem are possibilities.
Kind of ad libing with car.
