Layover at Lisbon and trip to Sintra

I'm looking for flights to Seville, many flights with TAP seem to offer good amounts of stops at Lisbon. I'm really interested in Sintra, wondering if a 15 hour stopover is good enough to get to Sintra and and back from the airport, I'm assuming 1 hour for getting out of the airport, getting 2.5 hours before the next flight, googlemaps says it takes 1h10m to go there by train. So I'm left with about 6-7 hours of daylight. IS that decent enough, or just better to leave this for a future trip?
IS it possible to squeeze in a couple of hours at Lisbon as well?

It's kind of rushed but we loved Sintra and if it's your shot to get there...do it!

I would take a taxi to Sintra, plan on double the time getting back.

I agree it would be possible by taxi to Sintra. Getting to the train station in Lisbon would involve subways. And the train leaves every half hour. Same on the way back. Also if you take the train there are bus connections to get to the Palace which will take more time waiting/transferring. If you have a taxi take it to the top to Pena palace. I also heard that some taxi's will wait for you and bring you back. I am not sure about the cost but probably a good idea to look into it. Also our trip to Sintra was more or less ruined by rain. If the weather is bad I would recommend you bag the trip because the views will not be worth it. Sintra is at a higher elevation that Lisbon so the weather can be different (cooler and rainier). I was told if its cloudy in Lisbon it is most likely raining in Sintra.

Thanks a lot, I guess I would avoid lisbon and concentrate on Sintra. So is a day enough to go round the castle, have a look at the castle from a distance( as in many pictures)?

Which castle do you want to visit in Sintra? Sintra is full of palaces and castles. We spent five whole days there and never got bored.
Better to stay in Lisbon for the day, IMO.

We took a taxi from the cruise terminal in Lisbon to Sintra. We spent about two or three hours, driver waited for us and took us back to the cruise terminal. The cost was 90 euros. Driver spoke very good English, was very knowledgeable and entertaining.

I'd use the stopover to explore Lisbon.

It's a magical city, and with 15 hours to play with you could do an easy trip to Belem to see the Jeronimos monastery, too.

And sample some pasteis de nata nearby.

Our favorite visit in Lisbon is the National Palace of Queluz.
