Latin Quarter or Louvre area lodging with teenage sons?
Hi, We'll be staying in Paris for 3 nights in August. I have 3 teenage sons and I'm looking for a quad room. Can anyone recommend either the Hotel Cluny Sorbonne in the Latin Quarter or the Saint Roch near the Louvre? Which area would you recommend? Thanks, Vicki

Hi Vicki, We stayed in the 6th arr.at the Regent in 98 and it was great, but the Latin Quarter and the Hotel de Notre Dame was fun and much more laid back last March. They even had a dance club on the corner with lots of young people...also great resturants nearby,,,Rotisserie Beaujolais being the best mid priced resturant around. I love the Latin Quarter, and they will too.
Hi, just got back w/12yo daughter. Stayed in 7th near the 6th & visited Latin quarter a lot. Loved it; would not stay near Louvre; too cowded, etc.
We frequented a cyber cafe in the 5th called clickside, rue domat. The area near lux gardens was very appealing: the hotel Jardins du Luxenbourg looked really nice. You can go to Paris Jaune pages on the web & actually get photos of hotel & surrounding block for a bit of a feel for the 'hood. Make sure you visit Pompidou unless you are a prude, do the Paris Walking tours--terrific!--&
the canal ride that leaves from the D'Orsay to La Villette. Also, buy Time Out Paris book for tons of great suggestions for kids, teens, trendy spots, classics etc!

Three teenaged sons! God bless you. I agree that Latin Quarter area is best. I stayed in the 5th, at Hotel St. Christophe and highly recommend it. It is in the Rue Mouffetard area, which has lots of great restaurants, crepe stands and funky little bookstores and record shops that attract young people. I think your sons would enjoy that. Good luck.
