Late bar in Soho London

Any suggestions of a bar that we could go to on a friday night for late drinks after having seen a westend show .
We are a fairly large group and we will be going to several different shows and then meeting up after so can't specify what theatre we will be in but the majority will be at the Queens Theatre on Shaftsbury ave and The Adelphi which is in the Strand Area I think. Any help would be great. thanks

I think any suggestions are going to be entirely reliant on how many of you there and what sort of rough time you'll all be done by, as in Soho/Covent Garden, there is literally something for everyone.

Are you all meeting up just to swap notes on the different shows over a pint or will you be wanting to settle in for a session, fuelled by cocktails?

If you let us know how many of you there are, what sort of place you'd want to go to and whether your party is gay friendly (or at least is happy with same-sex public displays of affection) I'm sure we'll definitely be able to come up with a few options.

From your other thread there are at least seventeen in your group - right?

That is a HUGE group and most bars/pubs in Soho and Covent Garden are pretty crowded after the shows let out. I'm trying to think where a group that size could just walk in and I'm sort of stumped. But hopefully others may have some ideas.

Well spotted Janisj. Yes there are 17 of us so quite a sizeable crowd. Think we'd like somewhere more lively than swapping notes over a pint but beggars can't really be choosers so really anywhere that we can have a few late drinks really. We are definitely used to gay public displays of affection so have no problem on that score but we are not looking for something specifically gay friendly. Anyone know anything about The Arts Theatre Club?? Or what about Trisha's- think the name is changed now though? Not been to either venue so have no clue. Thanks so much Jay-G and JanisJ.

You might have more luck on this one with a messageboard that caters for persons of a rather younger disposition , students and so on, where large groups of late-nighters may be more common. You could try the Thorntree:

(I see there's a post there from someone trying to organise a pub meeting for between 50 and 70 people of all ages!!!)

I think the size of your group is really going to cut down your options somewhat, because on a Friday night, most places in Soho and Covent Garden will be full to the rafters and if you can actually get all seventeen of you in somewhere (some places might turn you away) it's going to be a squeeze.

One option might be to phone a couple of places and try to reserve some tables, but on a Friday night and late, even this might not be do-able.

I've been to the Arts Theatre Club, it's a fun place but it's a private member's club, with membership costing about £100 a year if memory serves. Not bad for one person, but for 17 of you, it could be a bit pricey! Can't say I've ever heard of Trisha's I'm afraid.

A couple of places that will be lively and open late (can't guarantee they'll let all of you in though) are Kettner's in Romilly Street and Detroit in Earlham Street. There's also Freud on Shaftesbury Avenue which does good cocktails (and has constantly changing art on the walls) but it's small and may not physically be able to fit you all in.

Failing any of the above options, lots of pubs in the centre of town have late licences, will be lively and will no doubt have more space than the places mentioned above.

Hope this helps a bit, but just shout if you need any more pointers.
