Last minute trouble : my hotel in Rome has charged me 3 days ago

I have made the booking through bookings.com and were supposed to pay at the hotel, but then I was checking my account today (I leave for the airport in two hours) and saw they have charged me for the whole stay (two nights). What can I do to show them I have been charged yet in case there is any doubt ?? Oh, my, I'm getting mad now...

I booked my hotel in Rome just last night for next months' stay and was told up front that I was going to have to pay the entire charge. Do you have access to a printer? If so, print your credit card charges out and bring them with you. Otherwise, copy & save the screen into a word document and email it to yourself (copying the hotel if possible) so that you can access the document there. Hope that helps.

Thank you very much My problem is that my printer doesn't work any more..but you have given me a great idea !!!
I don't mind to pay in advance, it's only for two days..but they should have told me, I think. On the booking page they mailed me it says I will pay at the hotel... Thanks

My pleasure. I would also, of course call Bookings.com and alert them to this situation BEFORE you leave for Italy. Look on the statement to see who charged you, was it the hotel, or was it Bookings.Com? This way you know who is responsible for the primary charge. Good Luck!

It was the hotel, I 've checked on that. I've used bookings.com a lot before, and never had a problem. Also in the booking page they said the hotel reserves the right of checking if my credit card is valid..but I had never supposed "a checking" was a full charge

if you were charged by the hotel then there shouldn't be any doubt once you get there that you have paid.

if there is then dispute the first charge with the CC issuer

Hi K,

Don't worry.

If you are double billed (which is not likely to happen), just dispute the charge after you return.

Hi Kenderina,

I know how annoying those last minute issues can be. You got great advice here. Have a great trip and tell us about it when you come back!

Maybe you were supposed to pay the DAY you arrive, and with the time change, it's already that day in Rome? I wouldn't worry about it, you can always contest a double-bill. I hope you like the hotel when you arrive and you have a great time in beautiful Rome!

Maybe you weren't actually charged, but they put a hold on your account for that amount or something, could that be it? I know some hotels and car rentals, etc., do that, although I'm not sure exactly how that works. However, I wouldn't doubt that hotels could do something they weren't supposed to.
