Last minute trip to Italy: Venice end of Aug?
I know the bienniale is on until 8-27. Does anyone have any idea if Venice will be horrifically crowded next Mon-Fri?
How about Florence from 8-24 to 8-8-28?
Ideas for quiet hotels or b & b to stay in, 2 beds?
Thanks.

People can recommend until they're blue in the face, but that doesn't mean that at this late date you'll get into the places they recommend.
Your best bet is to go through www.venere.com and see what's available. Some of the higher-end places in Venice recommended here still have availability, but very few of the medium-price ones, which is what I assume you are looking for since you mention B&Bs.

The Biennale goes on for some time, I think into early November. I am not sure of which connected activities are on right now.
Many visitors to Venice don't even know that there is such as thing as the Biennale. Although someone did tell me they noticed "a big head with pins in it."
I am purely guessing that Venice and Florence will not be as crowded as they might be in July or earlier in August. Only guessing, based on hearing that many Europeans prefer a beach vacation in August, and that many Americans are returning home now to get the kids ready to go back to school.
I'll be anxious to hear what others with more experience at this time of year have to say.
