LAS PALMAS CANARY ISLANDS
Hello ; I am going to be in Las Palmas in Feb. 2012 and flying in from Madrid {MAD} into Las Palmas {LPA} ! Can anyone tell me the best way to get in to Las Palmas from the airport near the port area ? Also I will be there for 3 days and interested in seeing the sites and culture of the Las Palmas area and places to eat good native food especially fresh seafood . At 79 I am more interested in seeing the culture rather than the entertainment but if you know a good reasonable tour guide ; I'd be interested in how to contact him and make arrangements for him/her to show me around Las Palmas !
THANK ; DLD

This page tells you all about public buses and taxis into the town from the airport. http://www.canaryforum.com/gc/airport.html
On the same site they have pre bookable excursions for one or more persons.
I have no experience of them personally but they may be worth contacting.
Google offers several others - try searching for La Palmas private tour guide.

Off topic - I have never understood why they are under Africa since they are as much a part of Spain as Andalusia or Catalonia are.
Maybe geographically the are African but clearly they are a two Spanish areas, and people look for them under Europe.
Why are the Azores and Madeira OK under Europe but the Canaries not?
I know I should post this in Forum help. I shall do that .
