laptop in Ireland??

Hey guys...I am heading to Galway on Friday and will be taking my photography equipment and laptop (Im a wedding photographer and was hired for a job there). Will I need some sort of converter for my laptop (Apple iBook) or other equipment? I dont want to blow up my computer by plugging it in to something I shouldnt.

Allen, two years ago I went to Ireland with a friend who brought her laptop to keep in touch with her law firm. She had great difficulty doing so. When she finally got a connection, the hotel billed her for "telephone use." It was quite expensive. She stayed on and I ended up bringing her laptop home.
Good luck. You will enjoy Ireland.

rememmber it is 240v / 50hZ here!! Some places offer 'WiFi' connectivity, but must admit I don't know too many places in Galway. Best bet might be to use a net café - approx €4 per hour should get you decent access...

Allen--I saw a great increase in connectivity in Ireland this summer as opposed to two summers ago.

As to your conversion needs, perhaps this article on Slow Travel would help:

If you are staying in a big hotel you should have no problem, but a net cafe will definitely be able to help you, mind you I wouldnt pay €4 an hour as quote above!! you will get cheaper than that, if you look about, also try the local library.

here is a good website for web-cafe's - maybe ring / email to check rates, the library is a good idea (it's always free).
