Lake Trasimeno Activities?

Has anyone done any of the boat tours on Lake Trasimeno in Umbria? We have rented a villa nearby but have already visited many of the local towns. This seemed like something new and different? I understand Lago Maggiore is the only island one can visit. Anybody have any input on that -- or other fun activities nearby?

The island is Maggiore; Lago Maggiore is something else. The boat trip to the island is nice, and seeing the lacemakers makes for an interesting tour. You can also take a ferry to Isola Polvese.

There are frequent concerts in summer in the castle atop the town of Magione. There is a blues festival that goes from town to town around the lake in the second half of July, maybe some in August as well.

Castiglione del Lago has a good market, but I forget what day it is.

It's a lovely area.

The food market in Castiglione del Lago is on Wednesday mornings; they also have an art/antique market the third Saturday of the month. We didn't do it, but you can rent bikes and ride around the lake (or just do and out and back if the distance is daunting).

We took the public ferry to Maggiore and walked around the island a bit. After visiting the aforementioned market, we we had a very nice lunch in Passignano at Del Pescatore.

We stayed in an agriturismo just outside Panicale. The town of Panicale is worth a visit if you haven't been.
