We have found a 60 mq apartment near the San Marco square. We are a family with three kids (15, 13, 7). We thought this would be a better option for our family for 3 nights and it seems reasonably priced (450 european dollars for the 3 nights). Has anyone stayed in an apartment in Venice or have any opinions about this option? Also, if we had to pick one lake, would you pick Lake Garda or Lake Como to visit for several nights? Thanks!! Sandy
Lake Garda or Lake Como? Apartment in Venice?

Don't know if you have a typo. 60 mq sounds weird. There's lots of info on apartments in Venice here. Type in apartment AND venice in the text search to come up with options. You might consider staying a bit away from San Marco ( Dorsudoro for example) for more of a "neighborhood" feel.
I think that "mq" is understood to meant "meters squared" - - perhaps from the (archaic) word <<quarr>>.
In other words, about 600 square feet, for those who prefer measurements from the pre-1780 era.
As for Garda vs Como - - Como is more expensive, and might be said to be a better match for a couple without kids, while Garda is slightly less spectacular from a scenic perspective - - yet with more "family-style" recreational possibilities.
Best wishes,
Rex

An apartment in Venice is a great way to go - particularly with kids - as the hotel rooms are generally small.
