Lake Garda- Italy
Going to Italy in August (yes I know it will be very hot).
Planning to spend 4 days around Lake Garda, we booked a hotel in Sirmrone. We are looking for activities to do around the lake including beaches and beautiful views. Any suggestions are welcome

My favorite sight on the lake - Il Vittoriale - a very weird place - not your average historic Italian house - has a boat on its roof!
The ruins at Sirmione are very romantic and well away from the terrible crush of people that inundate this small former fishing village that now mainly angles for tourists euros.
Yes a boat trip to the northern tip of this fjord-like Lake is great - see lemon trees at Limone (sp?) - the northern town has a real Germanic look and feel to it.
Four days on the lake would be a tad much more me - day trips to Verona are easy by train and Verona is one of my all-time favorite ancient Italian cities. check out Juliet's Ersatz balcony and see would-be Romeos taking pictures of their would be Juliet's there and vice versa!

Ferry or drive north to Malcesine and take the cable car to the top of Monte Baldo.

If you'll have a car, consider driving up the western shore and take the scenic detour on SP38.

If you're staying at Sirmione, are you inside the walls or outside way up the promontory? If you're in walking distance, then there some very nice restaurants inside the walls and when the day trippers have gone it's a lovely place to be.
Most of the views are beautiful, especially looking north. Most if not all the lakeside villages have something to recommend them and if you have a car take a day to go anti clockwise up to Riva and the next day clockwise. You'll take in all the villages and establish favourites. I like Bardolino, Torri del Benaco and Riva on the east side and Limone, Gardone and Salo on the west.
If you have children with you, then try Gardaland theme park just north of Peschiera: http://www.gardaland.it/resort-en/
Verona is less than an hour away and if you catch a train from Peschiera you can go direct to Verona, change there for Venice. Brescia is nearby non lake town with a nice old quarter and some intriguing shops, good restaurants too.

Forgot to mention Malcesine up on the east coast, mainly for its cable car to the top of Monte Baldo. The views are stunning on a clear day and you can watch the base type jumpers parachuting off the top down to the lakeside. Ther views are great, but Malcesine IMO doesn't have that much to recommend it otherwise.

The ultimative Lake Garda experience is driving the incredibly scenic coastal road around the lake. Everyone writes about the Amalfi Coast, but Lake Garda's coast is similarly spectacular.
My favourite town (rather a village) on Lake Garda is Limone (also, a nice beach there). From Limone, there is a very scenic road going up the mountains. At certain places, you can walk hiking trails with great vistas over the lake.
