Lake Como or CT

Hello- My wife and i will be in Italy in early may and are planning for a three day "vacation from our vacation". We are currently trying decide between Lake Como and Cinque Terre. We are 30 and enjoy a moderate amount of hiking and aren't looking for a plce with necessarily a lot to do as we will have spent the better part of the past two weeks in Venice, Rome, and Florence.

Any advice you can give us would be greatly appreciated.

Early May is a wonderful time to be at Lake Como. The villa gardens will be magnificent with all the rhododendron and azalea bushes in bloom.

Lake Como is a bit more upscale IMO. I actually preferred CT, but both are very pretty and can be relaxing.

We spent five days by the lake a couple of years ago (Menaggio) and found it to be nicely relaxed but with plenty of options for day trips, etc.

If you stayed in the mid-lake Como area, you could take a vacation from your vacation from your vacation and spend a day at Lake Lugano in Switzerland!
