La Spezia Centrale CAR PARKING?

Hi Fodorites

We're picking up our car from Hertz La Spezia City office (Via della Pianta) and would like to park somewhere close to La Spezia Centrale train station. Time period: less than a day, most probably about 6 hours)

Can anyone recommend anywhere suitable that won't make Lovener2's eyes water when we pay the charge?

Thanks for your help.

(only 53 days to go, getting terribly excited....)

I believe that La Spezia has recently re=configured its downtown parking, and I recommend that you ask over on the TripAdvisor message board for the most recent information, and the costs.

I would also ask whether the La Spezia train station has a left luggage room, which would make it possible for you to pick up the car later in the afternoon and thus escape the problem altogether.

Thanks for the suggestion, Zeppole. I checked the TrenItalia website and there is a left luggage room. Our reason for needing the car park is unrelated - need to pick up the car before lunch as Hertz close early on a Saturday but want to leave it close to the rail station where our parents will be catching the train.

You also might call or e-mail Hertz in La Spezia and ask their advice. Isn't the rental office right near the station?

Nope. Just looked it up myself. So scratch that idea. Ask over on Tripadvisor for current info on parking.
