Visiting Ireland 6/26-7/1. We're planning our trip as follows:
6/26-Arrive Dublin in am and take train to Belfast. Overnight in Belfast. Do hop on-hop off tour and visit Titanic shipyard.
6/27-Return to Dublin catch train to Killarney. Overnight Killarney? or nearby
6/28-Tour Dingle, Killarney Natl Park.
6/29-Continue tours in area possible overnight Killarney area(maybe return to Dublin late afternoon not sure yet)
6/30-Return to Dublin in am and sightsee.
7/1-Flight home in am.
My questions are:
1. Recommendations for tour operators in Killarney. We would like to be in a smaller group or just the two of us. Not a huge bus.
2. B&B or Hotel recommendation for Killarney.
3. Possibly taking train from Belfast and stopping/overnighting at a town on the way to
Killarney instead of going straight through. Suggestions?
I realize this is not a lot of time but this is all I've got. Husband really wants to see Belfast.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

You could fly into Belfast and work your way down. It's called and open jaw ticket.
Try these guys, they've been recommended in Fodor's.

For hotels, try these folks. http://www.venere.com/ireland/killarney/

First. Get the bus direct from Dublin Airport to Belfast, no point in getting a bus into Dublin and then a train. Return tickets available.

I use the Eviston Hotel in the centre of Killarney, upgraded room for comfort without the stupid prices charged by some Killarney Hotels. Or Sunnybank B&B

Sunny49; I strongly suggest you stay at Earl's Court in Killarney. We stayed at Earl's Court in September of 09' and again in October of 2010 and enjoyed both stays. I have posted reviews on Tripadvisor if you want to read that. We had a great room, enjoyed having computer access in their lounge along with the sweet breads and coffee always available there. The breakfast selection and buffet are very tasty ESPECIALLY the sweet bread on the buffet. Earl's Court is only about a 3-5 minute drive to downtown Killarney but not on a very busy street so you don't get a lot of tour buses constantly driving by. I know that you would not be disappointed if you stay there. b.
Earl's Court in Killarney starts at €170/room B&B
Gleneagle starts around €150/room B&B
A super top B&B would be about €100/room B&B
A superior or Deluxe room at the Eviston €70 or €80/room B&B
Sunnybank from €70
Fairview Executive room with Jacuzzi this week €89/room B&B
The above all based on 2 sharing.
Hence my comment regarding stupid prices
I just started looking for a hotel/BnB for 3 nights in Nov.. The parking tight at Eviston sounds a little tight.
I might like the the location of Sunnybank.
We have stayed at Carriglea House www.carrigleahouse.com several times. It's a comfortable, very quiet B&B, directly across from Killarney National Park and is driveable to Dingle. I would recommend at least 2 nights in Killarney.
Tony; Price must have really gone up in the past 1 1/2 since we stayed at Earl's Court; our cost was 55 euros PPS for their balcony room which cost more. I still recommend Earl's Court to everyone since we had such a great experience there twice!
We are still working on hotels/B&B's for our late Sept/Oct trip. One way to get better rates is to take advantage of a booking group such as booking.com, etc. We got a nice **** inn in Clifden for significantly less than their website price. A hotel in Cashel may be on our travel plan when we found it on a booking site quoted in USD for well under $200. We have not been to Ireland in ten years and it is looking expensive compared to what we spent on lodging in Scotland recently. We hope to spend two nights in Killarney.
nini, Where in Clifden? We always try and get into Dún Rí when possible.
Just a note: Most of these responses were posted after the OP's trip was finished. They left Ireland on July 1.
Duh! Must learn to read!
To be fair you wouldn't expect someone to ask such questions 3 days before departure... lets pretend its for next year
