Just returned from Malta and London

Athena and I recently returned from Malta. We stopped in London for a few days before continuing home.

I am currently posting and editing some of our photos at www.worldisround.com.

Hello shutterbug and Athena,

I am going to Malta in Feb. and am staying at the Valletta Studios. I was wondering what you thought of them and if you ate anywhere really good.

thanks

Thank you for the nice words about our photos.

I am sorry for the delay in response. I had some hip surgery and was somewhat distracted. I am afraid that my trip report will be scattered among the photo captions for a while longer.

We stayed in Apartment #2 and were generally quite pleased. The location is excellent for walking to all parts of Valletta. The view from the balcony is excellent, and the proximity to major attractions and shopping is superb. We enjoyed the meals we prepared in our private kitchen. The bath is large and comfortable. The only two criticisms I have would be the rather hard bed and the low light level. If we returned, we would bring an air mattress and maybe buy some additional lamps.

As far as restaurants, our favorite was Francis Meli which is on a corner about 1 block West of the Parliament Building on the street on its North Side.

We also dined at Eddie's Outdoor Cafe on Republic near the Parliament Building. This is roughly across Republic from the historic Cafe Cordina which is a wonderful place to enjoy a coffee and pastry.

By the way, Mark's and Spencer is west of Republic on the street immediately North of the Cafe Cordina.

For lunch we generally ate sandwiches bought from a variety of bakeries and shops. None were disappointing.

I hope this helps and you have wonderful trips.

Please let me know if I can provide more information.

Thank you for the kind thoughts. The repairs were worth the aggravation. The healing is nearly completed and just in time for hiking the Cinque Terra.
