Just Bought Round trip tickets to Munich Now how do I get to Venice from there ??

Got a great deal on round trip tickets to Munich for half the price of San Fracisco to Venice. Now I need to find out the best way to get to Venice from Munich.

The flight arrives in Munich at 12:35 p.m. on May 8, Tuesday.

which airline. I'm going to check whichbudget.com. How much time should I allow for flights ?

Would the train take too long ?

Thanks, hope I haven't made a mistake..

Hapag-Lloyd Express but only on certain days of the week.

The train will take a minimum of seven hours.

You could take the night train from Munich to Venice.

www.bahn.de and look for the International Visitors link to get English. Hightly efficient but not too user-friendly site.

There is an overnight train, but that might be too much for your first jet-lagged night in Europe.

I think Hapag is the only airline on the route and they don't fly it on may 8th, so you could spend a day in Munich or get used to the idea of the train.

Thanks to all,

I checked the orbitz site and I was able to cancel for the cost of their service charge of $21.98 !!! You can cancel within 24 hours.

No more cheap flights with connections for me. I've learned my lesson.

thanks again

You can take the train that leaves from München main station at 15:30 and arrives in Venice at 23:09 - still a good time to arrive at a hotel in Italy. Fare is 91.60 EUR.

Kayak.com is your friend.

may 8th fares from $116 US on Lufthansa - that one is too early for you but they have a 5:10 pm flight for $157 US (arrive at 6:25 pm)

these are return ticket prices. ( I used May 15th as return- not knowing your plans)
Not free but not too expensive I would think and not a lot more than the train option listed above and a 3:30 pm departure on the train may be tight.

I know that you have cancelled but thought that others may search and not realize that this do-able.

Have a great time in Venice

The train ride from Munich to Venice is spectacular. I would definitely do it during the day, when you can see the beautiful scenery.

That is a new one on me. Book a flight to a city that you don't want to visit just because the price is right.

Then pay good money to cancel it.

I would have taken the opportunity to see Munich for a couple days and then headed to Venice. Sometimes you find really great stuff visiting a city you hadn't planned on. And the train ride looks spectacular.

If you book now!!!!!, one way to Venice on the 9th will cost you 40€ on tuifly.com. Hapagfly no longer exists, they merged with HLX into tuifly. I went to Venice last weekend, flight was 39.98€ roundtrip. Muc-VCE took 7 hours!!. Delay, plus fog, so we landed in Bologna, from there we were put on a bus. However I arrived. 7 hours instead of 40min...
