June Canal View, Venice Italy

Hello,

I have been using http://www.bedandbreakfast.com/venice-italy.html to try to locate a B & B in Venice, Mid June. However, the site doesn't have a lot of ratings.

So, I come to all of you and would like suggestions on a 2 night, weekend stay (I understand the higher price on the weekends), canal view hotel/apartment/b&b. We are not looking for luxury, we prefer quaint. If it's on the Grande Canal, that is great, but if it's not, it's ok. Also understand the Grande canal traffic will include ALL types of traffic, not just gondolas.

Again, Thank you!

Some of the rooms at La Calcina have fabulous views over the Canale della Giudecca, or the Pensione Seguso next door (but it's set back a bit.) You will need to specify a canal view at any hotel/B&B you choose.

I do think you're on the right track trying to get on the canal - we stayed at the absolutely marvelous Al Ponte Antico in October - a hotel, but with only 9 rooms, the VERY best cappucino we found in all of Italy, and really feels more like a lovely B&B than a hotel. And the boat traffic view from our room right on the Grande Canal - and then on the breakfast terrace - was mind-bogglingly full of so many types of crafts that we marveled. Truly, all of the commerce that we take for granted in our own towns happens on the canals, right down to the "commuter trains"/boats!
Do enjoy - it's a marvelous city.

Thank you Tarquin & Franco. I have an email to rosadivenezia now!

I did get a response from Hotel Riva. Do you have any thoughts on this one? It seems fairly priced at 190E per night with canal view.

Like always, the professionals at Fodors has made this portion easier to plan! Thank you

Joann,

I had looked at that hotel last week, unfortunately, as beautiful & perfect as it is, the quote they gave me was more than we want to spend for 2 nights (1340E). It is fabulous though!

The Riva and La Rosa di Venezia are facing each other. La Rosa has a balcony. The Riva has none. And the price at La Rosa is just 160...

Ok, the bonus of a balcony, same location for less?? Let's hope la Rosa di Venezia replies wit availability!! I was just navigating thier website it is by far - PERFECT - for our "Vision" of what we are looking for in
Venice. I don't believe I will look further until they reply negatively. If they have room, this will be the one we book!
