I have two options to fly non stop from NY JFK to Istanbul. There is not a big difference between the price or the times of the flights. Any suggestions on which has better customer service, better in-flight entertainment and food. We will be in coach. Also can you purchase the visa for Turkey prior to arrival?
Thanks.
JFK to Istanbul Delta Airlines or Turkish Airlines

Ireland----the isle of pleasant surprises!

We were just commenting that the flight we are taking on Lot to Krakow on the Dreamliner this April will be exciting and we hope it will rival our flight on Turkish airlines from Istanbul to JFK in September of 2011. That flight was one of the best flights we have ever taken. This being based on a plane that was brand new. It had beautiful ambient lighting, a very pleasant crew, great iFE, good food and a lot of free wine. I can't comment on Delta.
We prefer Turkish air to most others. We purchased the visas at the airport when we landed - easy and quick.
We have our frequents with Delta but we flew Turkish Air and I would prefer them. My joke about Turkish Air is that they are twenty years behind the times, there is leg room, the meals are free, and they treat the passengers like humans.
We were in Turkey 2010 and needed exact cash for a visa.
I haven't flown Delta for many years, but like the others, I was very favorably impressed with Turkish Air last year. More space than many flights, better food than most, plenty of wine and other beverages, attentive service.
Getting the visa was no problem. Just be sure to have the exact amount! (The line in front of the ATM was much longer and much slower than the lines for the visa itself. I was glad to be able to pass by them!)
Turkish Air was great for us post volcano delays and cancelled flights. Many people were scrambling and T.Air replaced Air Canada in Frankfurt and stepped right up..Food, (2 menu choices) free wine, great crew, on time and I certainly would fly them again. visas at the airport and cash only. US is cheaper than Canada but what the heck..Delta leaves alot to be desired these days, Air Canada the sameso try the Turkish experience. BTW we were business to FRA and economy from FRA and still got royal treatment.
Exact cash for your visa -- in your home currency. We have US passports but UK residency, as noted in our passports. Tried to pay for the visa in pounds and were denied. Just a thought!
Thanks to all! Looks like Turkish Airlines is the winner hands down! I will make sure that I have $20 US per person for the Visa. Thanks for your input.
