January European Honeymoon

Hello,

My fiancé and I are hoping to travel to Europe for our Honeymoon in January of 2017. Our wedding is in October and with the type of work we do we can only afford to leave in January (I am in Real Estate and my fiancé is in the Wedding Industry). We are from Toronto, Ontario, Canada so the fact that we are going to Europe when the weather and temperature is similar to our own will not be that different.

However, it would be my first trip to Europe and my fiancé has lived there before, so for me no matter what I am looking forward to it. We have friends who have graciously suggested we spend some time with them in London when we come to save a little housing costs but other than that I am hoping to plan an adventurous and exciting, and some what relaxing honeymoon.

Some of the countries I'd love to visit would be France, Italy, Hungary and Malta but I am open to suggestions and looking for options. For a 4 week trip how would you construct a trip of this extent? It would be great to start or finish in London.

We are both looking for a bit of adventure, we are vegetarian, with an eye for photography and a flair for culture.

It depends on your interests. Beaches? Art? History? Architecture? Scenery? Countryside? Urban life? Fishing? Cycling? Hiking?

Climatewise, you will find beautiful weather in October at the Côte d'Azur, in Greece, Turkey, Malta.

Your thinking is very broad. Four weeks, four countries plus London. You need to narrow your focus based on your specific interests. (What does 'adventure' in January look like to you?) You can satisfy all of your interests in these countries, but the [fill in the blank] of one or two places might appeal to you more than other places. Or perhaps you do want to experience a broad spectrum in one trip.

I suggest you read some guidebooks, either online or paper, watch videos on YouTube. Think about how much time you want to spend moving between several points, sitting on trains, waiting in airports, etc., versus a slower, more relaxed pace covering fewer destinations. Are you more interested in big cities or do you want to drive to small towns or do a mix of both?

Southern Italy is positively balmy in January compared with Canada. You won't need your goose-down coats.

I agree with the above people - more information is required. Why Hungary? Why Malta? (Not that there's anything wrong with those destinations).

The good thing about January travel is you will get some hotel bargains and very few crowds.

You can find a "bit of adventure," good photographic opportunities, and culture galore anywhere in Europe, so your question is very broad and difficult to answer. What exactly do you want to do and see in these countries? What guidebooks and internet resources have you used to narrow down your desires? How do you plan to travel from place to place? What sort of pace do you wish to achieve - relaxed, rushed, something in between? We need more info to be of help.
