It's me again! Need Alsa bus help!

Have been on Alsa website, plugging in towns and nothing comes up, so probably no bus service. If any of you know if these towns have bus service let me know, thanks.

Astorga
Segovia
Leon
Ponferrada
O Cebriero
Orense
Santiago de Compostela (I'm sure they do) You can get an idea where I will be, the northeastern section of Spain.

Alsa may not be the bus carrier for particular routes. All of these cities have some type of bus service, of course. But you didn't mention the particular routes you're looking to take.

Here's my "trick" for finding bus service. Google the originating city name, destination city name, and the word "autobus". You'll then usually get the link to the bus company that provides the service.

In the above list I know that http://www.feve.es has now been shut down. It was not a bus service. Use the Renfe website.
Plus a lot are for public transport not covering the area you are witting about.
joyfultraveler can you please give the route route you want to take in the order you want to take it. I will then try my hardest to help you. Some of the routes here in Galicia are hardly "bussed". So they may be difficult to find or do.

I took Alsa bus from Leon to O'Cebreiro, and I know they service Leon from Madrid. You can also go from Leon to Ponferrada and Astorga.

thanks a bunch, here is our route: Madrid to Toledo, back to Madrid, then Segovia, probably back to Madrid, then Leon, Astorga, Ponferrada, O Cebriero, Orense, and Santiago.

For Madrid to Toledo and for Madrid to Segovia I suggest train rather than bus, its faster. Not sure what bus lines serves that route.

From Madrid to León, as I said above, Alsa provides service . However, we went by train, from Chamartin train station. Again, faster and to me train travel is more pleasurable than bus.
From Leon to Astorga, to Ponferrada and from there to Piedrafta do Cebreiro(the name of the town at the bottom of O'Cebreiro) you can also go by Alsa.
Not sure why you're not getting the info when you're on the website. Maybe you're putting a date too far into the future?

But I dont know who goes to Orense and from there to Santiago.

Good luck!

León - Astorga. http://www.alsa.es also by train http://www.renfe.com
Astorga - Ponferrada, the same as above
Ponferrada - O Cebreiro. Here is says a service run by Gonzalezdelariva. Looking at the website it gives no real information. In fact it is one of eh worse I have seen for public transport.
http://caminodesantiago.consumer.es/.../a-o-cebreiro/ The good thing is that ALSA also run a service. But you have to look at the service between Ponferrada and Lugo. Note the buses stop at Pedrafita do Cebreiro which is a 5km walk from O Cebreiro
Now here is the tricky one, as there is no direct bus.

O Cebreiro- Ournese.
Use Monbus to plan this route. http://horarios.monbus.es/
The steps are O Cebreiro - Sarria. Only one bus per day and very early in the morning.
Sarria - Monforte de Lemos.
Monforte de Lemos - Ourense.
The routes between Sarria and Monforte de Lemos and then Monforte de Lemos to Ourense can also be done by train. However, times may not be good for connections using either service. It could end up being a very very long day.
Ourense to Santiago de Compostela use Monbus or RENFE. The trains are much quicker then the bus, as the new service uses AVE speed train. But this si not connected to any other part of the AVE system.
Do not forget that sometimes train and bus stations are not in the city/town centres.
One last thing, when searching on these websites please ensure the correct spelling. I am not telling you off, but websites do not give suggestions when adding destinations spelt incorrectly.

I have taken the ALSA bus from Burgos to León and León to Santiago changing in Astorga, so it should be possible (The Astorga-Santiago bit goes through Ponferrada & O Cebreiro iirc). The León-Santiago train takes a slightly different route as Ribeirasacra says(south of O Cebreiro). Bear in mind that the RENFE phone reservation service was Spanish only when I went and I seem to remember getting the tickets turned out to be a bit complicated, which is why we took the bus.

blabla,

Indeed, as mentioned above, there's a direct Alsa bus that goes from León to Piedrafita de Cebreiro(at the bottom of the mountain where O'Cebreiro is, we took a taxi up). Before getting there it stops at Astorga and Ponferrada. There are two buses daily with this itinerary.

Book RENFE tickets on line to get the best prices.
The Astorga-Santiago I think heads north to Lugo and onto A Coruña before heading back south to SdC. It would be quicker to change in Lugo to another service.
