no, you don't need to bring them, they actually have more pounds in London than wherever you are coming from, I bet. Meaning you can easily get them there -- don't take coals to Newcastle as that saying goes.
Use a credit card or get cash from an ATm with your ATM card, I presume you have one. If not, you may have a bit of a problem.

oh, I see you are there for one day -- well, I would bet you can't pay for everythign with a credit card, but you can try. I'd still get alittle from an ATm machine. If you have leftovers, which you probably will, you'll just have to bit the bullet and pay to exchange it back to dollars or euro or whatever you want. You can do that when you get back to wherever you are coming from, even if you pay 10-15 pct, it's just an expense. Just don't get too many more than you will likely need. Or save it for another trip if you think you'll be going back in the next few years.

I was neither rude nor mean.
Your questions are strange, to say the least. You say you know Euros won't be accepted yet ask if you will need pounds. You've answered your own question.
You also asked ( on another thread) which station to 'choose' to arrive at from Paris to ensure you were in close proximity to all the sites. The idea that you could nominate any station of choice from an international destination AND that one station alone would be handy for all the sites of London is daft. I've never visited New York, but I wouldn't assume I could pick any arrival point I liked from wherever I was departing and that one station would serve The Met, Statue of Liberty, 5th Avenue and so on.
PS Shouty block caps are rude, for future reference ( assuming you didn't know that either)

Assuming the question is asked with conviction (and I have no reason to think otherwise), in London you well might be able to get away using a credit card everywhere. I spent 5 days in London in February and...
1. Tube in from LHR, bought (actually topped up) my oyster card with a credit card.
2. Arrived at the hotel, checked in with a credit card.
3. Had lunch (most every day) at Pret a Manger or something similar (used my credit card)
4. Went to TKTS or a theatre to pick up theatre tickets. Used my credit card.
5. Topped up my English sim card. Used my crdit card.
6. Bought refreshments for half time at the theatre at convenience stores or grocery chain stores. Used my credit cards.
7. Dinner every night at moderately priced restaurants. Used my credit cards.
Now I will confess. I did need some cash during the week. Stopped a couple of time at various pubs. Paid cash. (You might not think it necessary).
Stopped every morning at an internet cafe. £1 for an hour. Used cash.
I athink I made one small withdrawal (£10) and had enough cash for the entire week! Not once did I run into any problems with minimum purchase required at any of the places I went to use my credit card.
And since it was a former Schwab Bank FIA credit card with no foreign transaction fees and a 2% rebate on everything, it almost made London affordable! (Note the word almost)......

I would love you to conduct an experiment and see whether it is possible to survive in London for one day without cash. The only thing that might be a problem are taxis - not all take credit cards. Have a fabulous time while you are here. SHout if you need any more tips on where to go and what to do.

On my last visit to London in November 2010 I only used cash once to buy an orange from a street stall and I paid with a pound coin that had been in my wallet for about a year!
It's very easy to go cashless in London but do bring your credit cards!

Coutours - I live in London and dont carry cash. I can get by for weeks without using cash. They accept debit cards almost everywhere and I generally avoid places that take cash only cause I never carry it.
