Well, after nearly 8 months of gathering info and eagerly looking forward to the trip, it's finally time to leave for my first trip to Italy! I can't believe it's finally here. We leave on Friday (on Alitalia, I'm glad they've made some progress, let's hope it keeps up) for 4 days in Rome and 4 days in Venice.
Thank you all so much for the great info and advice you've given me.
I promise to post a trip report when we return.

Kismet, we're staying at the Palazzo Sant'Angelo. Part of the Sina Hotel group. Has great reviews on tripadvisor, and elsewhere. I'll give you all the details when we return.

Hey, we could be in Venice the same time as you! We leave in a week for a week in Verona and a week in Tuscany. Bringing the two kids, a little nervous about that, but more excited to go than anything!
