itinerary recommendation 6 nights Spain (Barcelona/Madrid)
Hi, My wife and I decided to visit Spain for the first time during Memorial day weekend and will be there 6 nights
We arrive in Barcelona early morning on May 27 2017 and return from Madrid on June 3 2017
I would appreciate itinerary suggestions if you have them .. .we are in mid forties and not really into food and drink. unique architecture, landmarks, scenic places/drive is what we usually we like...
We have not booked ticket to Madrid from Barcelona yet .... any hotel suggestions would be appreciated as well .... 3-4 star
thanks in advance,
HD

You will definitely see your fair share of unique architecture in Barcelona. I found the city very walkable and ventured out on foot. I'm also a big fan of walking tours and found 2 that were educational and fun.
Here's my trip report for Barcelona (along with a few of cities) - includes my itinerary, photos, and recommendations:

Sorry I can't speak to hotels as I stayed in hostels.
Enjoy your trip planning!

This year? it would probably be good to look at one of the hotel sites that has many listings and put in your dates. That should narrow down your hotel choices.
Yes, Barcelona has very interesting architecture and Madrid has the museums. You might want to do an easy daytrip to Toledo from Madrid.
Wow, you are really a last minute type of traveler! Hope everything goes smoothly.

Yes, good luck! According to booking.com, Barcelona hotels are 92% occupied over Memorial Day weekend. The Room Mate Gerard has a room for about $350/night.
It's the same in Madrid, where the One Shot Recoletos 04 has a couple of rooms left for just under $250/night.

I was just in Barcelona, I agree with a previous poster that it's super walkable. We enjoyed walking because the city itself is so beautiful. Sagrada Familia, Casa Batllo and Parc Guell were my favorite Guadi spots. We took the cable car from Barceloneta area to Montjuic, the view on the ride up is amazing and Montjuic Castle was pretty cool to explore also. We also took a cab to Tibidabo, very out of the way but the drive up is really neat and once you're at the top, the whole of Barcelona is at your feet.
Have a blast, I loved Barcelona and never wanted to leave!
