Hi!
I'm in need of some advice and suggestions for an Italy trip we plan to take this summer. At the time of travel, the kids will be 7 months, 5 years, 8 years, and 11 years old. We have 3-4 weeks available to travel anywhere from mid-June or early August. We want to spend at least 1 week in Rome. Our budget is fairly flexible. We would like to stay in at least 2 cities, if not 3 (one being Rome for certain). I also have a great deal of Hilton points, so we were thinking of the Waldorf Astoria in Rome for about 8 nights.
Thanks!

Advice and suggestions about what? Where else do you want to go? Only cities, no countryside?
Generally speaking, hotel points or no hotel points, I would think it would be easier to stay in apartments. How will you organize the sleeping arrangements in a hotel? Two triples with an adult in each room? Nap time for the little one?
How were you thinking of moving from destination to destination?
How do all of you handle hot temps? And how about the kids and jet lag?
Hi Jean,
Yes, after researching the last few days I realize it will be easier to stay in apartments instead of using the hotel points. We were thinking of renting a car for the month. We handle hot weather great, as we live in Florida. We have done a good deal of travel with the kids (not the baby yet as he is only 2 months), and they recover from travel pretty quickly.
We would mostly like to stick to the cities, but would love to take maybe a few days to visit the countryside.
I'm thinking about staying in Rome, Florence, and Venice. Do you think a week in Venice is too much for kids?
A week in Venice would be easier with kids if you have an apartment. The walking in Venice is not easy with strollers but the older children should do OK. I'm not sure what to do for a week in Venice with young children but as many travel with children, you should get some ideas.
