Hello,

We will have 9 dys in Ireland then head to London for 5 days. I assume we will fly from Boston to Dublin then we would loike to visit Galway. I am not even sure what airport we would fly out of to arrive in London.

How many days should we spend in Dublin? What should we do? and from there how many days should we spend in Gallway? Does anyone recommend stops along the way?

Also what is the best method of transportation from each spot? Bus, train?

Also any suggestions on where to stay in each city would greatly be appreciated.

As the detail you provide is a little vague - are "we" two in number,are your interests of an outdoor or indoor nature, have you ruled out self-drive - here are a few things you might investigate as you plan your trip.
Dublin itself has a very walkable centre, the south of the Liffey being better preserved with elegant Georgian squares like Merrion Sq., Fitzwilliam Sq. The hop-on hop-off tourist buses will get you to the majority of sites like Kilmainham Jail etc.
The most popular day tours out of the city are to the monastic settlement in Glendalough and the ancient site at Newgrange in County Meath.
Travel between Dublin and Galway is most conveniently done by train.
The three main tourist must do's outside Galway are the Aran Islands, the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare,plus Connemara,west of the city.
Advising on accomodation is impossible without some clue as to your budget.

First of all, I think you might be better to fly into Shannon from Boston, hit Galway and then work your way to Dublin and fly to London from there.

Are you planning to rent a car? At least from Galway to Dublin. The stops between those two places would need a car.

You could catch a bus from Shannon to Galway and not have to drive that first jetlagged day. Spend the rest of day 1 up and walking about exploring Galway. From Galway you can take public trans. to Rosseveal and the ferry to the Aran Islands for a day trip. There are also day tours that explore Connemara from Galway, but driving yourself is much more fun as you can stop where you want when you want.

Pick up your rental car and head toward Dublin. On the way stop at Clonmacnois, an ancient monasstic ruin with round tower, celtic crosses and views of the upper Shannon. Birr Caastle is an interesting stop--wonderful gardens and a giant telespcope bu8ilt in 1845, which was the largest in its day.

Approaching Dublin from the north there is the town of Trim with a castle to explore and the ancient burial tomb at Newgrange. Monasterboice and Mellifont Abbeys have some interesting architectural details still in tact among the ruins.

Ditch the car at the airport and head into Dublin for your last few days. Lots to see and do there, but not so much as London (understatement of the century!)
