Itinerary help for two weeks, includes Bergen and Copenhagen
Hello all, I have been reading the threads for Norway and getting some really good information. First had to figure out what Norway in a nutshell really was. We plan on going first two weeks in August. I would like some help with our itinerary. I plan on flying into Bergen as I am not too interested in Oslo. Would like to visit the fjords, would you recommend staying at any other location in the area? I figure some days there and then go to Copenhagen and spend a few days there and then fly home. Or is it better to start in Copenhagen go to Oslo then Bergen? We are two families with older children. Thought of taking the cruise ship north of Bergen to other locations? Thank you for any information given.

I did read your trip report Michael, it sounds wonderful. I looked on the map and saw you drove along the north west coast. Did you have a hard time driving around? I was thinking to land in Oslo go to Bergen, see some of the coast, then go south to Copenhagen and depart from there back to the US. We have two weeks, I was thinking the fjords would take more time, but I see people do the NIN in one day. Is it too much time for those areas only? Thanks for the information.

I did not have problems driving around, although we never knew if the tolls imposed when entering large towns were paid or not, nor are the booths manned so that we could get information about it. We tried to pay one, gave up on the second and never received a ticket.
NIN is done via public transportation, can be done in one day or broken up. It simply represents a set of tickets for the train, ferry and bus segments of the trip.
