Itinerary Help / Advise
Hi All,
I intend to visit Slovenia during Aug end this year . Now I will be coming from Salzburg (as I have planned some of Austria Lakes) . Now, Salzburg -Ljubljana , the most convenient train time without change get me to Ljubljana at 18:30. So I spend 2 N in Ljubljana. Below is my rough itinerary on which I need your suggestions how to go about /sequence /no.of days allocated. Plz note I will be entirely dependent on Public Transport (bus/trains) .
Day 1-2 - Ljubljana
Day 3-4 - Bled -Bohinj - I prefer short hikes , any specific trails to follow here ..
Day 5-6 - Around Soca River/Bovec - (Any suggestions on accommodation/day hikes/guides/farmstays ) ...
Day 7 - Logarska Dolina -
Day 8 - Ljubljana to Istria OR back home (not decided yet )
Any other places in Slovenia that I must add.. I also wanted to visit Kamnik ...
I would also like to know if clubbing Austria & Slovenia is not really practical (primarily due to logistics) and if I should rather consider Slovenia + Croatia ..
Many Thanks..

Hi
We did Ll and Bled Bohinj, not the rest.
We did find (easily) hike trails, notably one along a river - maybe was it Soca, don't remember.
What you musnt' miss are the caves - we did Postojna, it was grand, and we did another one, that I lke, but my wife didn't really.
We based ourselves mostly in Ll and spent several evenings + one day - it was sufficient in our mind. We didn't like the castle and wouldn't bother anymore.
Enjoy

I wouldn't recommend visiting Bovec and the Soca Valley area with public transport. It is difficult to access and not really suited to the type of destination the Soca Valley is - secluded spots, various locations, many far away from bus stops and few bus connections. It would be a better idea to rent a car or go on a guided tour.
Logarska Dolina is about the same, if not worse, when it comes to public transport accessibility.
Google Maps has transit directions that cover all public transport in Slovenia - I recommend giving it a go to see how your itinerary works out.

"Bled ... I prefer short hikes , any specific trails to follow here"
You might consider hiking from Bled to the Vintgar Gorge, through the gorge, and then hike back along the hilltop above the gorge.
You can also walk around Lake Bled, but that's more of a walk than a hike.

Thanks everyone for your valuable inputs and suggestions ...
For most of the days I am considering to go with organized tours..so I presume my transport issue between places should be sorted/taken care of.
rtt0921 mentioned a very crucial pt to factor in about remote and secluded spots around Soca & bovec - I will bear this in mind and plan only a guided tour for this part and also the other areas..
Thanks all so much ...Truly appreciate !
