We have booked a river cruise/tour with Grand Circle in September. It includes a seven day river cruise on the Rhone River and four nights in Paris after the cruise. We would like to extend our trip in order see the Normandy area. Would three days be enough time? Would it be better to rent a car and drive out of Paris or take the train? We would also like to go to Versailles if possible.
P.S. There will be four of us traveling together.

There have been many wonderful previous postings about side trips to Normandy. I know as I learned from them for my upcoming trip for the 60th Anniversary in June. Just type 'Normandy' in the search box.
You can take the train from Paris to Caen or Bayeux. There is limited bus service but not sure where you want to go. There are many tour buses if you'd like to go to the Normandy Beaches.
If you want to rent a car, I'd do it from Caen rather than Paris. Or also be out of Rouen. Parking is tight (thus can be expensive) when in Bayeux. My hotel charges for overnight parking but if you have a car, a gites in the country would serve you well.
While you're in Paris, spend one of the days taking the RER to Versailles. You won't regret it.
You certainly can see the Normandy D-Day sights in three days. I would take the train to Caen or Bayeux and rent a car there. Three days is enough time to include Mont-St.-Michel and Honfleur, if you like. E-mail me for a suggested intinerary, if you so desire.
