We will be coming from Croatia through Istria and plan to travel SLovenia through Piran, Postojna, Ljubljana, Lake Bled, and then to the spa & wine country.
Having a difficult time planning the number of days in each place, and the routing and whether to go by bus, train or do car rental.
HELP _ PLEASE!!!
Any ideas for hotels or off the beaten track suggestions also appreciated - We will return to USA from Ljubljana.

Hi
It varies as to time. We spent 2 days in Piran and enjoyed it very much. Postojna was just long enough for the cave tour. Didn't stay in Lake Bled. In Ljubljana we spent 3 days, as it was because we enjoyed just walking around there. Didn't go to wine and spa country either. Slovenia was a really nice place to visit, though Istria is my favorite. We rented a car and went to Venice, Vicennes and verona. As of last year you couldn't rent a car in Italy and take it to Croatia. we always travel by car as we are on our own schedule and itinerary. Enjoy it.
We went to Slovenia via Italy. We arrived by bus through Trieste and went to Piran. Because the hotels in Piran were all booked we left the next day to go to Bled by bus(after spending the day in Piran). We stopped en route and spent the night in the casino town - New something. The "something" is the same as a town in Italy (on the other side of the border) that USED to be in Slovenia before WWII, hence the new.
The next day we continued north and we stayed in Triglav National Park near the Lake Bohinj in a great hotel, and took a day trip (by bus) to Bled from there. After there we went to Ljubljana - also by bus - where we did day trips to Skofja Loka and Ptuj (sort of wine country). I think we took the train to these, but I wouldn't swear to it. Then from Ljubljana we trained back to Italy.
We were in Slovenia for a week. At the time, there aren't many hotel choices in Ljubljana - a Holiday Inn, the Grand, and the Park (where we stayed).

Me again with additional information. The casino town was Nova Gorica and we spent the night because we needed to take the train to Bled Jezero. The train didn't leave again until the next morning where we then took a bus to Triglav and our hotel - Hotel Zlatorog (goat).
Also, we did take trains from Ljubljana to Ptuj and Skofja Loka.
