I am planning for a trip to Italy.
Can someone please guide me:

1. Did i miss out any places?
2. Is my itineray too aggresive?
3. what is the cost for metro


ROME :
Day1 Vatican City, St Peter Basilica
Day2: Colosseum, palace and Spanish step
Day3 : Trevi Fountain

Venice:
Day1 : 1Day tour
Day2 : St Mark Basilica, Dodge palace and water tower

Florence :
Day 1 : Pisa leaning tower
Day2 : St John Baptistery, Duomo and Cathedral of santa Maria Del Fiore

Milan:
Day1 : Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

Are you kidding?

You left out 90 % of great sightseeings that can be visited there.

Trevi fountain will not take you one day.

The ticket for metro will be not the most expensive thing that you will buy in Italy, is about 1 Euro.

Since you only have 2 days in Florence, please skip Pisa. It doesn't make sense.

Well, with 8 days I would pick 2 places MAX. Rome could eat up 8 days easily on its own.

You are going to lose 1/2 a day each time you move locations....

That makes more sense.

As for must see places, do some research by clicking the Destinations link above. They will give you ideas and you can decide based on your interests. Also, guide books would be helpful to look through as well. Its hard not knowing what you are interested in and the research is easy to do yourself for such short days in each city.

As for the metro, I dont know the exact price, but about 1.50 euro

I think you should be more concerned about the train journeys between the various cities. Use trenitalia.it to help you map out departure and arrivals times and plan accordingly.

Agree with above to leave out Florence or Milan because of time constraints.

Are you going on a tour and these are the paces that you will go in addition to the tour OR are you planning your independent trip based on a tour?

Pisa is not worth the time.

Your itinerary is way too aggressive, especially considering you're not sure what to see in each city and that it's your first time to Europe. It also takes a lot of time - at least 1/2 day - each time you move between cities.

Do you have your flights yet? How do you plan to travel between cities? Why did you pick the cities you picked, especially if you don't know the major sites that are in each?

I don't intend to sound harsh...I just think you need to slow down. And also do some research. You can start on this site by going to the destinations section:

Asking people to regurgitate what is already there isn't really fair to us when you can find it so easily.

One more comment... have you ever been on a tour before? Tours are able to cover so much ground so quickly because you get up at the crack of dawn, spend a lot of time traveling (especially on an itinerary like this), and basically cross the "major sites" off your list. To do this itinerary on your own, you'll have to basically do the same thing.

Note that most tours also provide tours in the cities that they're visiting...so they're very organized in terms of transporting people between sites. It will take you longer to navigate yourself between the sites that you would like to see.

One of the things I enjoy most about travelling anywhere - especially Italy - is just getting lost in my surroundings and relaxing a bit...and seeing more than just the typical/major tourist sites.

So it might also help to know what type of traveler you are. Is it okay that you will spend so much time traveling? Do you just want to see the major sites and move on? Or are you interested in lingering longer in a few places to see things that maybe aren't the top sites but are every bit as worthwhile?

and worst, actually, i need to confirm my flight tomorrow for departure on 28 june..

was trying to come out with something.. Guess may have to plan my trip elsewhere then.. thks

I agree with the others. You are trying to visit too many cities in 8 days. I have some questions:

Have you already booked your flights? Could you fly into Rome and out of Venice, or vice versa? Exactly how many days do you really have for this trip?

What time of year is your trip? If it is in summer, it will be crowded and hot which may impact how much you are able (and willing) to do each day.

Public transportation is fairly cheap. You can buy multi-day passes if you think you'll be using it a lot, but the cities you mention are all very walkable. Unless you have mobility problems or you choose hotels far from the main tourist sights, you can get everywhere on foot.

As others have said, you should do more research than looking at tour brochures. A good guide book will have a chapter that will give basic information about traveling in Italy and, in the sections on the cities you mention, helpful suggestions about planning an itinerary for the number of days you have. One travel tip that is rarely mentioned is that every time you move from one hotel to another in a different city, you'll lose at least 1/2 day (usually more). In a short trip with multiple destinations, this lost time can really add up.

It's not as important that you see everything that people here think you should see. You need to plan this trip around what is interesting to YOU.

What are you airline plans?

You don't have to follow the plan from some tour company.

Here are some thoughts: Rome - see colosseum, St Peter's, Vatican Museum, Trevi fountain, spanish steps; Venice - St Mark's cathedral and square, Doge Palace, Accademia Musuem, take a gondola cruise in the twilight or evening; Florence - Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, Uffizi Gallery, David, Pitti Palace, Medici Chapels; Milan - cathedral, Last Supper, LaScala Opera house, VittorioEmmanuel Galleria. There are so many things to see and do in each city - I've spent well over a week in each and still feel as though we've barely scratched the surface. With eight days, pick two cities - tour group itineraries can often be 'touch and go' - if you only want to say you've been there, that may be fine; if you want to feel as though you've really BEEN there and experienced Italy, then take 3-4 days in two cities and enjoy.
