Italy trip finally taking shape-suggestions?

Jump to last reply

Thanks to everyones help on this board I finally made alot of headway in planning our Italy trip in October. The rental car issue is taken care of (yay!) and now I would like some feedback on our itinerary. I know I have time to fine-tune this, but I am excited and would like to hear your thoughts and suggestions. Thanks!
Oct. 6 Arrive in Milan and check into Hotel Regina Olga in Lake Como area.
Oct. 7 Hopefully use this day to recover from jet lag
Oct 8 Day trip to Switzerland (Luzern) from Como (that just sounds so cool "I will be spending the day in Switzerland!)
Oct 9 Check out of Hotel and take a train into Milan. Check our bags at the station in Milan and use this time to see The Last Supper and other things that catch our eye. Then take a train to Venice and check into Hotel Malibran.
Oct 9 thru Oct 12 we will be in Venice and seeing the sights. any suggestions on restaurants, etc. would be great!
Oct 12 check out of Malibran and head to Florence by bus.We initially took Florence off our itineray because it looked fairly close to San Gim. but after much discussion and the help from this forum it is back on. We will stay at Residenza dei Pucci.
Oct 15 Check out of Florence and take a train to Sienna where we will pick up a car and drive to San Gim. where we will stay at Casanova di Pescille and just use this time to sketch, take pictures, and have lots of picnics! We will also visit Volterra during this time, daughter is a huge Twilight fan!!
Oct 19 Check out of Casanova and drive to Sorrento (thanks to everyones help on this idea!) We will check into the Hotel Antiche Mura which was recommended by Bobthenavigator. We will use it as our base to visit Pompeii and Naples.
Oct 22 Turn in car, check out of hotel and take a train to Rome where we will check into a hotel. Just don't know which one yet. Working on that today. Hopefully close to Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps, etc.
Oct 26 go home.
So, that's it so far, let me know your thoughts and any ideas you might have for interesting things to see and do . We have a 15 year old daughter who will be with us. She loves photography.
Thanks GG
