Italy in April - Sicily Advice and Travel Logistics

Jump to last reply

We are planning a 2-week trip to Italy in April (family of 5, including 2 children ages 6 and 8). We fly into Rome and out of Naples. Our original plan was to fly from Rome to Sicily, spend a little over a week in Sicily, then take the car ferry back to Calabria and drive back up to Naples. We have a supper early flight back from Naples (7am) and are a little concerned with the logistics of rental car return and getting to the airport so early. We are also wondering if we're biting off too much with the total trip and whether Sicily is worth all of the hassle.

Alternatively, we could spend a week-ish in Tuscany and then train, fly or drive to Naples (although we'd still have the early morning flight challenge).

So, I'm looking for any advice re early morning flights out of Naples, travel to Sicily or any other comments regarding the Tuscany option.

Thanks in advance for your help!
