Italy in 3 days
I am going to be in Italy for my son's wedding in October. Wedding is in Rome on a Saturday and my family leaves from Rome for the US on the following Wednesday (early morning). We have 3 days Sunday through Tuesday. Wanting to go to Venice, but some in our party are also wanting to go to Munich. Is it do-able to go to Munich and Venice in the time we have or does anyone have suggestions on where to go in the 3 days we will have? Any suggestions on where to go and what to do in our limited time will be so helpful!! Thank you for any help you can provide!

If they are flying out of Munich it is ok but as you can see it is a long train ride to Munich. Three days still does not give you much time to see much after travel time. I would look at Florence or maybe to a trip to Montepulciano, Sienna and that area.

If you have an early morning flight out of Rome on Wednesday morning, you need to spend the night in Rome or at the Rome airport Tuesday night. To get back to Rome from either Venice or Munich, you will probably need to stop touring either city no later than 6pm Tuesday -- and if you don't want to risk missing your Wednesday morning flight due to possible delay in air travel, the only safe way to do this is to go to fly to Munich first, and then go to Venice second.
Flights to Munich from Rome take about 90 minutes, but you need to be at the airport 2 hours before the flight departure, and the airports are 40 minutes out of Rome. Munich aiport is about 40 minutes outside of the city.
Flights to Venice from Munich take about an hour, and getting into Venice from its airport to a Venetian hotel usually takes more than an hour unless you opt for a water taxi.
Trains from Venice to Rome take about 3.5 hours.
I would guess the transit costs per person to be something in the neighborhood of 500e.
Also, be aware that Oktober fest in Munich ends Sunday, Oct 4.

Trying to see both Munich and Venice in only a coupe of days makes no sense at all.
If you want to see either one then you should fly back to the US from there and not trek all the way back to Rome. (Check the cost of switching flights - at this point may not cost more than that of getting from Venice or munich back to Rome in time - which must be the night before - as you have to check into the airport 3 hours before flight time for US flights).
Although if it were me and I hadn't seen Rome before I would just stay there - since it takes at least 3 full days (4 nights) to see much of anything.

Of course you can physically move your body to all the locations mentioned in the time frame mentioned. However, I suspect the more relevant question is, what can you do at destinations and how much do you care to travel at insanely early hours, coming back late, etc, to visit these places? No one can tell you this. You can easily estimate travel time by plane at www.skyscanner.com and train time at www.bahn.com. Subtract time consumed in taking planes/trains and you have time left to sleep, eat, and visit places using what little time left.
If you have not been to Rome, Rome is not an airport only no name city. It is a world class capital with more than enough things to occupy many people's interest for weeks let alone three days.
If they wanted to visit Munich or Venice, returning from Rome was a planning oversight. This was something they needed to plan to purchase airfare matching the planned activities. What they want to do and the flight arrangement are incompatible at this point.

You can make an overnight trip to Venice. Train ride is less than 4 hours, so you can give yourselves two solid half days. Munich is much further away and would require a full day of travel when you consider the roundtrip flight. Not worth it when you only have 3 days to spare.
Have you been to Rome before? Another option would be to stay there all three days. Guaranteed you won't get bored.
