Not the right forum for anyone seeking hostel or low budget accommodation info - i'd tell you to go to a bookstore and peruse Let's Go Italy which gives the best rundown of the accommodations you seem to be looking for - the very best. Any good library will also have a copy.
Budget here means $100 or so and i think you're looking for something much less.
Also try Lonely Planet's Thorntree forum which has more backpackers and true low budget travelers.
