Italy

Hey my friend and I (both 23) are going to Italy from August 18th to September 3rd. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding a possible itinerary if we were travelling from north to south ending in Sicily?

Well, that is a big question! Italy is about the size of California. Where are you landing? Have you looked at a map and seen any places you are interested in? Do you like cities? Smaller towns? Cathedrals? Architecture? History? Art?

At your age, I would guess you want to avoid spending too much money.

If you have not been to Italy before, I suggest you avoid driving on this first trip, and take the train. It's easy, convenient, and not expensive. Go to slowtrav.com and look at some of their info on what it's like being in Italy, driving in Italy, riding the train, reviews of hotels and apartments, etc.

Is your trip next month or next year? If it is next month, you've got some serious work to do. If it is next month, you seem to have set dates, so where are you flying into and where are you departing from? Are you going only to Italy or coming/going, to/from other places in Europe?

Since you are pretty young, you probably want to move about more than some of us, but going from Nothern Italy to Sicily will eat up a good bit of time traveling and not give great amounts of sightseeing time.

You have just two weeks, so you will really have to narrow down the specific places you want to see and things you want to do.

Are you wanting to see some major archeological sites like Pompeii, hang out in major cities like Rome, visit big Art museums, explore smaller towns, hike, etc.? No one can tell you how to do this until they know more specifically what you want to do.
