Italian car factory tours
I am trying to decide on one of the many Italian car factory tours that I have been reviewing. They appear to offer basically the same itinerary/tours. Has someone toured with one that you could recommend? Myself (grandmother) and 18 yr old grandson will be touring.
We are planning to stay in Bologna, with no car.
Is a tour the best option? If we traveled to Modena how best to get to the factories? Bus or taxi? Is hiring a driver possible, if so, need recommend for that as well.
Feeling a bit overwhelmed, so help would be so appreciated.

If you haven't explored the useful website of Bologna's tourism authority, look here: http://www.bolognawelcome.com/en/tourist-information
It contains a section on the "motor valley" with connections to various car and motorcycle manufacturers. Click on Ferrari, for example, and you can find a suggestion for two company operations and getting there by public transit (train to Modena, special shuttle from there.)

I expect you can find packaged tours for these and other attractions around the region too.
Bologna is an excellent base, less frantic than other northern Italian tourist destinations yet youthful from its large population of university students. The tourism bureau runs an informative walking tour of the core city. With more than 40 km of walkways covered by arches it is a comfortable place to stroll And very good food, no surprise.
