Istanbul Hotel help May 7-11
Hello all,
I am beginning to panic a bit because I am trying to book a hotel for my stay in Istanbul from May 7-11 and it seems that most of my top choices are booked! I want to stay in the Sultanahmet neighborhood and will require a double room. My only qualifications are that the hotel is clean and safe.
I emailed Hotel Dersaadet and they do not have a room available for all of the nights of my stay. I also contacted the Empress Zoe hotel, the Hotel Nomade and the Hotel Sari Konak, all of which were booked. I did find a room at the Celal Sultan Hotel, but they only have a superior room available at 160 euros/night and I was hoping to spend a maximum of 130 euros/night.
Does anyone else have any hotel recommendations? Or do you all advise simply booking the room at the Celal Sultan since I may not get a better rate anywhere else?
Thanks in advance.

Have you tried Mavi Ev or Yesil Ev? Yesil Ev has the most beautiful garden, and it is right across the road from the Four Seasons.
The only bad think about staying in this neighborhood is the "call to prayer" from the Blue Mosque early in the morning. I also think Sultanahmet is VERY touristy. The carpet merchants can drive you mad.
I stayed at the Ritz-Carlton near the Bosphorus.
Superficially Thin

Since your stay coincides with Formula 1 Grand Prix races (9-11 May), almost all hotels are fully booked during that week. If I were you I wouldn't worry about the extra 30 euros/night and go with the Celal Sultan. After all it is one of my favorites in Istanbul and the view from the roof is stunning.
Enjoy your stay at Celal Sultan and give my best regards to the owner Mr. Emir his wife Ms. Sule.

Sorry for my delayed response. I wanted to thank you both for your answers to my question. I did check out the Mavi Ev and Yesil Ev and both were booked during my dates. I think I will just go ahead and keep my room at the Cela Sultan. It's too bad that I chose the weekend of the race for my first trip to Istanbul! Although I am sure that once I get there I will have a fabulous time.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
