Istanbul ferries
We will be 5 nights in Sirkeci Konak Hotel and wonder about the ferries. They seem to be an inexpensive way to see parts of Istanbul. Do they depart regularly ? If anyone knows this hotel, how far is it to walk to the ferry ?
Thanks

Galiano:
In Sultanahmet nothing is very far fom the ferry dock.
We found that the ferry up the Bosphorus to its end-stop was a good way to see both sides of the Strait, with a few hours at he last stop, Anadolu Kavagi...a small town where you can take a lunch break and get the next ferry back to Eminonu. See pix of Istabul and the ferry ride below.

Just check the web for the schedules :
http://www.sehirhatlari.com.tr/en
Currently, it is the Winter Schedule but the Summer one will not be that different and will be posted on time.
The best ones are the commuter ferries:
- Bosphorus and Adalar (Islands) lines
- Eminonu-Kadikoy, Eminonu-Uskudar, Kadikoy-Kabatas, Kadikoy-Besiktas. Uskudar-Besiktas
- Istinye - Cengelkoy ring line.
Depending on how fast you walk and the traffic lights, the Kadikoy and Bosphorus (Bogazici ) piers are about 10 minutes from the hotel or two stops on the tram.
The Islands boats leave from Kabatas, that is the last stop on the tram going the same direction and passing over the Galata Bridge.

Stu, that was a long time ago. I have been reformed and free of my shackles.
I now sell ferry tickets in Istanbul, and if the customer cannot find the ferry, all he has to do is get to Bakersfield.
