Istanbul airport transfer time adequate?
Hello,
Our Turkish Air international flight into IST is scheduled to get in at 9:30 am. We have a domestic flight on Atlas Jet to Izmir at 12:10 pm. In between, we have to clear immigration & customs, and drop off some of our luggage at the Left Luggage counter.
Will this 2.5 hr interval be sufficient for these activities? I hope the international and domestic terminals are not too far off?
Thanks,
Matt

The domestic terminal is just 10 minutes walk to your left as you come out of customes.
However, the left luggage may be to your right. It may be harder to find the left luggage in the domestic terminal.
The most delay we had on a Chicago flight was 45 minutes and then about 60 minutes to clear passport and customs. Flights from JFK could have longer delays in the past but we have not flown that way the last four years.

It looks like i have the itinerary and high level details mostly set. Will update on my other post. We are very much looking forward to our Turkey holiday.

Dear Matt,
I know that i did not respond to your other posts, but Nicci, Ian and others provided good advice and there really was no need for me to supplement theirs. It would be unpleasant to hog all Turkey threads in any case.
And i would hate to be frowned upon by considering myself as an instittution or agency for approval as some other self-proclaimed "Experts" on various locations do, especially on Trip advisor.
In terms of hotels in Istanbul, we have stayed at the Kempinsky, Hilton, Bebek and Swiss hotels for various occasions but never at any hotels in Sultanahmet, so could not help you there.
I hope you realize that i usually try my best in giving information only based on my experience and sometimes on well established facts rather than hearsay.
It seems that you have studied many previous threads and some of my earlier posts also. In that case, you are probably quite familiar with my more recent suggestion of taking a commuter boat from Eminonu in the evening for your Bosphorus cruise, getting off at a pier of your choice for dinner and getting back by bus or taxi, instead of getting the regular cruise ferry. This suggestion is especially valid for summer months when the days are long and the Bosphorus is as much fun on land as it is over the sea.
Finally, i hope that you will have no problem with your connection when you arrive. I recommend that you let Atlas know of your arriving flight information beforehand, just in case it helps.
