Ischia di Castro
We are researching my great grandfathers immigration in 1907 and plan to visit the area he came from Ishcia di Castro. I understand it is @ 40 miles north of Rome.
Is anyone familier with this city or lodging close by. It took me forever to find it on a map.

Thanks

Hello Belfiore,

Well that explains everything! I wondered why you posted the question a second time ...

Ischia di Castro is west of Lake Bolsena, north of Viterbo, and probably about 2 hours drive from Rome. Here are the websites I posted before. How's your Italian?

www.isa.it/tuscia/cartacom.htm
www.isa.it/tuscia/ischiacastro/index.htm
................./comuni.htm (for nearby villages)
www.isa.it/tuscia/english/enghome.htm
http://www.emmeti.it/Arte/Lazio/Prov.../index.uk.html
www.provincia.vt.it/cultura/turismo.htm (general info on province of Viterbo)

Nearby Lake Bolsena is one of the largest volcanic crater lakes in Europe. This area is very attractive.

Some websites:-
www.bolsena.net
www.pelagus.it/bolsena
www.pelagus.it/lago/bolsena
www.lagobolsena.com

Hope this helps. Please don't lose them this time! Let me know if I can be of more help ...

Steve
