Or elsewhere in Forio ? I've done some research & just about decided I prefer the look of Forio over Sant'Angelo. The Poggio del Sole looks nice & is very reasonable, but I'd like to hear of any first hand experience. It has one (rave) review on TripAdvisor. Thanks.

Trip Ideas

Also interested in any comments about this hotel. I passed through Forio on the way to the Poseidon Terme in Oct. (heavenly place). Forio is such a charming little town, I would love to stay there. Bus service on the island is excellent and frequent. The prices seem too good to be true though. I wonder how far it is to the town and beach, really. From the pics, it looks like it might be a bit of a trek.
As someone who has been going annually to Ischia for 15 years, let me tell you that Forio over Sant'Angelo would doubtlessly be a huge mistake. Sant'Angelo is beautiful - the most beautiful town on the island, while Forio is nowhere near that nice. If you choose to stay in Sant'Angelo - let me recommend Casa Garibaldi, a charming hotel. The one downside to Sant'Angelo is that it requires one to be rather in shape; much of the town is hilly.
Thanks both for comments.
Barb: yes, I too wondered exactly how far from the centre & the coast the Poggio del Sole really is, then found a website which says it is 1 km. My DH reckoned that the hotel we stayed at in Positano (the Poseidon) was probably that far out & that wasn't a problem, so hopefully wouldn't be here either.
Hi ajadedisealist. I think I've seen your comments on other threads about Ischia ? The main thing that made me think I'd prefer Forio to Sant'Angelo is that from lots of reading & googling I've got the impression that Sant'Angelo is more of a just-aimed-at-tourists kind of place, whereas Forio is more of a 'normal' place. I don't like Positano much and prefer Amalfi, so thought the same difference might apply ? Sant'Angelo is obviously very pretty; but from the photographs I've seen, Forio also looks very pretty, isn't it ? Also it sounds like Forio might be easier for getting buses ? Also someone (perhaps you, I think ?) said the restaurants are much more expensive in Sant'Angelo ? I saw your recommendation elsewhere for Casa Garaibaldi & I looked at the website : it looks nice on the whole, but the bedroom pictured looks very small & not very nice - is that a false impression ? Thanks very much for your help.
