To determine travel time between places:
If you are driving, check

If you are taking the train, check the Germain train web site:

Going from Vienna to Innsbruck, then backtracking to Salzburg, then backtracking past Vienna to Budapest does not make sense. Do you have to start in Vienna?
The most direct route (with driving times) would probably be;
Budapest - Vienna (2.5 hours) -> Salzburg (3 hours) -> Innsbruck (2 hours) -> Prague (6 hours) -> Krakow (6 hours)
If you leave out Innsbruck, its 5 hours from Salzburg to Prague.
Train times are likely to be a fair bit longer execpt for Budapest - Vienna - Salzburg ,as the Czech and Polish rail systems have fewer fast/direct trains.

hi savy,
as adrienne and aramis both say, what you can planned is rather bitty and involes going back on your self quite a lot.
also, it's very biased towards cities, - there's much more to europe than that and you will miss a lot of you restrict yourself to cities alone.
you seem to have 17 days [or is that nights?] and to be trying to shoe-horn 6 places into it - IMHO that's 2 places too many.
allowing for you to end up in Krakow for your meeting, i would suggest the following:
Vienna 4 days
Salzkammergut 5 days [allows for day trips to Salzburg & Innsbruck if you must]
Prague 4 days
Krakow 4days
I know that that misses out Budapest, but it is not that dissimilar to Vienna and Prague, this way you get the most contrast and to see a little countryside.
if Budapest is a must, you could substitute it for Vienna or Prague.
have a great trip,
regards, ann
