is there a way to tell if a person made a certain flight?

am supposed to meet my friend at the airport and she gave me the flight number but there was confusion on the actual day. She said 23rd in her email but then said see you Tuesday.

I can't reach her on her cell phone. I wouldn't mind going both days except it's an hour drive to the airport one way.

do airlines give out passenger info anymore (did they ever?)

many thanks

I recently tried to get some passenger info on a work colleauge who was supposed to connect with me in a "third" city....
The flights were on UAL and I was told that NO passenger info can be given to anyone other than the flyer for security reasons....(obviously titer after 9/11)

One suggestion is that you might call the airline and tell them you've "forgotten" which day "you" are supposed to travel......But they're probably wise to that game as well...
Best wishes.

Does this involve travel to Europe? or FROM Europe?

The interpretation that jumps to my mind is that she is departing on the 23rd, and will indeed "see you" (arrive) on Tuesday (the 24th).

Best wishes,

Rex
But Rex, that would be unlike any flight I've ever taken FROM Europe. The +1 is always TO Europe from the U.S., isn't it?

Is there anyone else at her end that might know her travel plans and be willing to share them -- family members, work colleagues, travel agent?

This isn't meant to attack the person who asked the question, but, it does raise the issue of personal security.
Why would an airline give out passenger information? They shouldn't.
There are simply too many creepos out there wanting to find out information on others that really isn't any of their business.
Wouldn't it be creepy if someone from this forum wanted to track another poster and was able to call the airlines and obtain passenger information?
I can just see it..."I saw your post on Fodor's that you were going to be in New York today...: eeeeuuuuuwwww!

Good luck, sheepish. I hope you connect with your friend.

Airlines will not tell you over the phone no matter what who is and who is not on a flight. It is a personal security issue. Try to call a hotel and ask them "which room is Mr. John Doe in?" and they will not tell you either. They will transfer you to the room (implying he is in the hotel) but they won't tell you which room number. It protects the traveler.

Have you thought of sending her an email message, calling her home, her office or her family? Someone probably knows her date of departure.

When going TO Europe you lose a day. When returning you leave on the same day you return (assuming, of course, it's not over the 12 a.m. timeframe).

can you call her hotel and find out when she's checking in or out? Someone must have information on her travel itinerary, I would hope.

After waiting to meet friends flying into Rome on a Swiss Air/American flight (Miami to Zurich to Rome) and finally realizing they simply weren't there, we spent a couple hours at the airport and then on the phone from our hotel trying to get information for either airline. No one would tell us anything, until finally someone I talked with at American confirmed that "yes they were DEFINITELY on the Miami to Zurich flight and yes they DEFINITELY arrived in Zurich on time, but somehow had not been on the Zurich to Rome flight". Finally we heard from our friends who were in Boston where their flight had been aborted the night before due to mechanical problems. So the idea that they had DEFINITELY arrived in Zurich on time was total hogwash -- the plane still wasn't even there.
The moral is, don't depend on anything the airlines tell you about a passenger (if they will), yet alone the flight.
Sheepish,
Hardly any doubt that Rex has it right. E.g., I'll be flying out on the 24th and arriving in A'dam on Wednesday. Since today is still the 23rd in the USA you have either missed her (not likely) or she will be landing in the next few hours, assuming that she is flying to Europe.
John
BTW, for 40 years or more airlines have not given out passenger info except to law enforcement authorities. It has nothing to do with 9/11.
