Wondering if one day of the week is cheaper to fly out of the US (DC or NY) into either Rome or Venice.
Is there a cheaper day to fly into Italy? Rome or Venice???

I've sometimes found that midweek (Tues-Wed) fares are a bit better than weekend, but saving $30-50 on a $900 ticket isn't enough for me to sacrifice my preferred schedule, especially if it means adding a $200+ day (hotel, meals, etc) to the trip.
However, you'll only get a truly accurate answer by searching several websites, both individual airlines and the kayak/ expedia types.
You will probably find mid week flights into either Milan or Rome cheapest. I would check Philly also (you seem to be close) as USAir has been having some of the cheaper flight prices recently.
If your dates are flexible, try doing a month long search at ITA-

to book generally and also to fly. www.aa.com offering best priceponts usually into Rome FCO Sometimes we save a lot by flying RT into MXP(Milan) and training a couple of hours to Venice to save. RT flights always cheaper than open jaws for us we go annually headed there in April. cheapoair.com kayak.com/buzz couple of good comp sites.
Happy Hunting!
Recently ended up switching to one day earlier, a Thursday, and moved arrival airport from Rome to Pisa to save several hundred dollars per ticket. Worked better for destination in Tuscany too. I was amazed as I thought Rome or Milan would have the best price.
I was also going to suggest Pisa, as I got a steal of a deal in 2010 from NYC to Pisa. This year, I'm noticing good fares to Rome, but not sure what month you are looking at.
