Is The Scream back on display?

I have a friend taking a grandson to Oslo for the express purpose of seeing Munch's The Scream. I realize it has been recovered and is undergoing restoration. Is it on public display now?

Thanks,

Yes, I believe a pastel version of the Scream will be showing in a special exhibition this summer of Munch's works-it should be an excellent presentation-wish I could see it myself:

Umm, you're right-that exhibition was last summer, and it's not showing now.

Actually, I think this is right- there is more than one version of Munch's "The Scream" the one that was stolen, was from the Munch Museum, and that is under restoration, however there is ANOTHER version of The Scream in Norway's National Gallery of Art, in their Munch Room gallery-so yes, a version of Munch's "the Scream" can be seen here:

Let me get it straight (having checked the Munch Museum site)...is the painting on display or not? Or will it be soon? And I take it that it is no longer at the National Gallery where we saw it a few years ago? I was going to urge my friend to linger awhile in the two rooms of Munch works and certain other galleries.

I recommend that you read The Rescue Artist (by Dolnick) before you go -- Scream or no Scream. Great background.

No, I think the opposite Ozarksbill-look at the link to the National Gallery website -it is giving the present dates, and it says that it is showing The Scream-but the version that was stolen and recovered at the Munch Museum is NOT on display-ONLY the one at the National Gallery of Art is on display.

So it seems there are two versions of The Scream. In the news today is the sentencing of the burglars of the one stolen from the Munch Gallery. Is either one considered the "official" and are they similar?

Ozark-no one needs to scream because they can't see the Scream, my understanding is that there are more than two, and one is privately owned, I believe, but I think the one at the National Museum is in a different medium than the one being repaired at the Munch museum, in other words, one in watercolor and the other in oil-but I don't know which is which.

You might want to check wikipedia, my "favorite" source of accuracy on the web, and see if they have any information-but check that sourcing!

I have had some run-ins with Wikipedia lately, which is why I say what I do... not happy.
